Dentinal hypersensitivity occurs due to various   reasons. Patients if suffering from hypersensitivity may feel sweet, cold or sometimes hot sensation in teeth. Some of the reasons include:

• Brushing your teeth too hard :This may wear away the enamel layer and may cause abrasion

• Poor oral hygiene: Allowing tartar to deposit on teeth may cause gums to swollen and making their grip week on teeth. This causes bleeding gums and dentinal sensitivity.

• Old FILLING THAT HAS CRACKS: Secondary caries can occur in old fillings, making the tooth sensitive.

• Systemic diseases: Systemic diseases which generally affect the GIT (Gastrointestinal tract) may cause acidic reflex. One of the disease is known as “Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease” . It may cause acidic erosion in teeth making them sensitive.
